Fulling mill

With the strength of water
The fuller that you can see today is parent to the XIIIth century mechanism which equipped the mill of the village bridge. This piece, still working in the Water Space, is unique in France.
In this room, the public walk along metallic slatted floors towards a central observation point in which a fulling-mill took its place.
This fulling-mill is made of oak wood. The vertical overshot wheel has a diameter of 2.56 meters for a witdh of 0.50 meters. At the end of its axle can be found four camshafts which activate the four arms of a length of 4.5 meters supporting the hammers.
Hydraulic micro-power station
Also in this room, the educational elements inform the visitor on the way the turbine which produces electricity for the French Electric Company – EDF – works. It is highlighted in there the use of water in the production of a contemporary power easy to move, to distribute and to use : electricity.

EDF Model

A model created by the French Electric Company - EDF - 7,8m long, 1,53m large and 1,60m high - is animated and commented (modelling of a flood). It represents a part of the Tarn valley between a few kilometers upstream from the Pinet dam and a few kilometers downstream from the Jourdanie dam.
It shows the work of hydro-electric works, the management of water reserves and the valley during floods.
